The upshot is we were late getting to the Grand Canyon so decided to stay in one of the hotels near by.

The Grand Hotel in the Grand Canyon......
We were seriously delayed in Las Vegas attempting to exchange the hire car, which in the end did not as the model I wanted was not available, all they wanted to give us was a gas guzling V8 Chevy Tahoe, which I would have had if not doing all the miles. So we left 2 hours later with a car needing a oil change and no parking brake, oh yes we will be getting a good refund. So we will probably look to change the car in or around Denver.
